These last much longer than claimed.Cyalume type break and shake cold lights are all pretty similar. These were $10.95 for a 12 pack delivered in one day. What surprised me most was that although touted to last 12 hours the one I tested lasted all night, was easily visible all the next day in a brightly lit room, was still giving enough light to navigate in pitch darkness at 24 hours and only lost its light completely after a full 36 hours. Excellent. I put some in my bug out bag, some in my car, couple in tackle box, one in kitchen drawer, one in nightstand, etc. Will be buying more. 5Red is the favorite, unless white was chosen first, then white has it's time to shine!First, let me get the details out of the way. They are indeed glow sticks, and light when you bend them. They are very bright and last a very long time. Now the important stuff. We issue these to all children on camping trips as "toys" to play with after dark. What they are really used for is to track said children in the night as they romp around the campsite. Please don't tell them or their interest in glow sticks will wane. For now interest is high, and color choice is crucial. In my very unscientific testing, children under the age of 10 prefer red, then blue, there is a tie at green and yellow with white being the last chosen every time. This is of course ONLY when each child is allowed to pick in a vacuum and does not know the color the other children have chosen. When chosen in a non-controlled environment, then the color choice is either, A: the one you just ran out of, or B: the one someone else has "that had that one before, all the time", and the choosing child never gets that magical color. The only constant in this scenario is white finally gets a chance to be the preferred color assuming it was chosen by some other child first. White also has a chance to "be favorite" when there is a chance to get two glow sticks. Yep, I said it, two glow sticks. Two glow sticks trumps color choice in 87.5% of the scenarios. The bottom line is you need these. But, you need them at a color to kid ratio that far exceeds societal norms. Don't say you haven't been warned... 5Heck yes it works!Bought the 20 pack for stocking stuffers for several family members and to have a few to test. Snapped one to light at 0030 hrs and placed it the darkest room in the house with no windows. 1630 hours (14 hours time) it was still producing light. Not enough to be useful for sure, but that is not the point. This product lasted at least 12 hours with enough light emission to be useful. Definite sunset to sunrise product. 5SurprisedUpdate: 4 hours after cracking them together the USA made one is obviously staying brighter longer8 hours after cracking them the USA made one is still as bright and these are only a light glow. I won t buy them again. The savings aren t worth it to me.I m surprised how good these Chinese glow sticks are as compared to the USA Cyalume. I might not have bought them if I d paid attention and knew they were Chinese. However, they are brighter upon cracking than the USA made ones I also have. I ll see which glows longer and see how they hold up over time. 3Perfect for hurricane or power interruptionThese glow sticks were terrific! Individually wrapped (means longer shelf-life), sturdy (none of ours were prematurely activated, which has happened with other glow sticks), gave good light. We purchased for use as interior emergency lighting in case Hurricane Irma hit us (she did) and we lost power (we did). There's no danger of fire and one glow stick in the hallway in front of the bathroom made the kids much happier. The white and yellow and green could be used for reading, or for calculating Yatzee score sheets. The red lights were not as bright as the others, but that's not always a bad thing.We didn't have to use both boxes (hurray!) and so now keep a couple in each car for emergencies. 5Worked in an emergencyWent to Yosemite two weeks ago only planning to spend 5 or so hours in the valley during daylight. Due to unforeseen circumstances ended up 2 miles from where our car was parked after dark. Worse yet the car was parked at the side of the road in a remote location, in the forest, with no landmarks, no light sources along the route, and no nearby manmade structures. During the day it would have been a piece of cake navigating there. At night we needed to navigate unlit paths, forest areas without paths, and along unlit roads back to the vehicle. We had no light source other than these glow sticks and cell phones which were low on batteries. Trying to preserve the cell batteries I cracked a glow stick. Not sure I would classify these as super bright but they did provide enough light to see the ground 6 feet front of us just enough, and alert our presence to the occasional passing cars. Had to use cell phone light occasionally when more light was needed. I was surprised that it was still glowing 18+ hours later, which could be seen from inside the trash can in our lighted hotel room. 5Good but not greatI got these for a glow run 5K event. These were easy to "break" (to get the glow going) as compared to others I have used before. However, I read such rave reviews on the brightness, I think I expected more. I was a little disappointed in that they are no different than your standard glow stick. I am an army veteran and I usually purchase chem sticks from army surplus stores but I will order these sticks from now on. Great price, individually wrapped, perfect glow, and they do last for 12 hours. The first six hours is maximum glow. The last six hours the glow starts to dim slowly. There is still a dim glow (no lighting effect) 13 hours later. When I don't need light I can safely throw it in a drawer. I love the fact that my children can safely play with them or fall asleep with them in their rooms. When I break the capsule inside I normally shake it for 30 seconds and they get super bright. I have read some less than positive reviews about this product but it certainly gets 5 stars from my point of view. I have already ordered more. 5MIND GLOWN I bought a box of these to give to a friend who likes glow sticks. I gave her several and kept the other half for my kids to play with. Let me just say first and foremost that these are not the cheap little party favors you might think they are. The are legit glow sticks.The sticks are 6" and have a lanyard string that can be used to hold the light stick around your neck, or your dog's collar, or to twirl the sticks around in a circle (see video). I got the assorted pack with four of each of the colors - green, red, yellow, blue, white. The colors aren't NEON or FLUORESCENT but they *are* bright. I guess I would say it is a warmer color but still quite bright.The quality of these glow sticks remind me of the ones my dad would bring home from fighting a fire (he worked for the DNR of WA). They are solid quality so you do have to intentionally break them. My kids ages 10 and 8 had to ask for my help. I was happy to know this though, as I was able to keep track of them better this way.I kept a handful of them out to put in the storm shelter (we live in an area that gets severe weather regularly). I have no doubt these will come in handy in the dark or in the event of power loss.Great purchase, would purchase them again....my kids will see to it. 5Eh, nothing special, to report, average at best.There is nothing "Industrial" about these Glow sticks. I could by the same type, size, and duration at a cheap store or Walmart. Really bright for about 20 minutes, then average at best. Won't light up a completely dark room, but you can use it as a night or low light marker. One plus, it did last for just over 24 hours being visible. 2
